Spring Working Day New Buildings 6th April 2019

Text by John Moore: photos & video by Mike Brett

Despite 38mm of rain in the previous 24 hours our working day was fine and dry. Our host farmers, the Cheriton family, provided us with the use of their easy working field which was in corn stubble prior to its preparation for drilling maize. Our thanks are extended to them and our member Alan Isaac who organised the venue. We were very fortunate being able to re-visit this field which the club last worked in 2017.

Members arrived from 10.00am with various combinations of tractors, ploughs and cultivation kit. All had a good day fuelled by Tina and Joe in the refreshment tent, our thanks to you both. By mid afternoon a large area of the field had been turned over, not quite ready for drilling maize but we (the tractor drivers) enjoyed the day.

Marquee, tables and chairs reloaded, our thanks to our voluntary first aider Ian and his dog Barney.

No mud on the road, all tidy. A good day was had by all.
