British National Ploughing Championships 14th October 2017
Text by Michael Coleman; photos and video by Mike Brett.
This event spread of course over several tens of acres, and in a part day visit it was impossible to capture anything systematically. But here are a selection of photos and a short video to give a feel of just some of the various “vintage” activities on show.
Three members of the club competed in the championships – Ross Hext, Martyn Smale and Ed Vigers. Of these, in what was a highly competitive series of competitions, Ross achieved the best result by being placed 4th in the Ford and Fordson Association class, driving his 1938 Fordson Standard with a Ransome’s No 9 Trailer Plough. Congratulations to him and to the other two for having won their way through the qualifying stages to participate in the finals.
